The assignment is called Closing the GAP. The outline is below. I placed in parenthesis my idea the assignment can be about. OUTLINE

-Identification of a potential gap and confirmation of that gap using data such as standardized test scores, surveys, teacher/student interviews, etc. (potential gap low Math scores for Georiga students and Georgia Miles Stone standardized test (previously CRCT) as confirmation of gap)

– Use of relevant literature that suggests proposed 21st century skills/technology based solutions for the identified gap.

 – Design professional learning activities (using an instructional design model such as Understanding by Design) to provide the identified educators with approaches to close the gap. The activities should utilize cutting edge technology. The entire PLU will be created online.

-Design and development of an assessment strategy to assess the impact of the professional learning activities in actual practice

-Development of a proposed follow-up strategy (which does not have to be implemented because the time constraints of a summer semester-long course)

-Reflection on the following components:
o challenges of leading 21st century change
o the use of current technology tools for collaboration, communication and instruction
o developing authentic, alternative models of assessment for 21st century learning
