A weak sphincter allows stomach acid to splash up to the esophagus. When this happens, you feel a burning sensation often referred to a hear burn. The more you continue to vomit, the more the effects. It eventually leads to bleeding in the esophagus

  1. When you get used to vomiting then you stop, the parotid salivary glands are affected. They are located at the base of the jaw in front of the ear. They swell and make the cheeks look swollen. This effect does not affect you as long as you do not resume frequent vomiting. It is an uncomfortable feeling.
  2. Electrolyte abnormalities arise after vomiting many times. Sodium, potassium and chloride electrolytes are lost during vomiting. They leave an imbalance in electrolyte which can result to death or cardiac arrests
  • Frequent vomiting means frequent loss of body water. It can easily lead to dehydration. When the level of water in the body reduces a lot, then you are likely to suffer complications related to the kidneys. In some cases, you can suffer from kidney failure which is permanent
  • Constant use of laxatives makes the intestines unable to process food without you being constipated. The pain experienced due to constipation makes you to continue to use laxatives for a longer period of time
