Advantages of Yoga

Advantages of Yoga

Dieting and exercising are the two known best ways of staying fit and living a healthy and comfortable lifestyle. People who jog and visit the gym frequently are less likely to develop health related complications such as obesity and high blood pressure. Most of the foods that people eat contain a high amount of cholesterol that makes the body fat and unfit. Exercising enables people to burn the excess energy stored as fat beneath the skin. Dieting involves a calculated move to reduce the intake of unnecessary and unhealthy. Both dieting and exercising should be practiced at the same time since they complement each other and enables people to live health lives (Ross, & Thomas, 2010). Yoga is slowly becoming a popular practice in both the rural urban areas. People who practice yoga can easily manage back and lower abdominal pains, relax their body muscles and improve the functionality of the central nervous system.

Yoga involves slow but strenuous exercises that enable individuals to put all their body muscles into action. The practice usually focuses on the parts where the body has joints that move frequently. These parts include the back, abdomen, legs, hands and the neck. The slow but strenuous body movements help individuals to relive the body pains associated with old age, long hours of sitting, and sickness (Mane, 2015). The various human body parts require regular exercising so that they can be fit. However, sitting in one posture for a long time makes the body muscles to get fatigue. In addition, the body muscles age as people grow old. Aged muscles may sometimes be painful when people decide to walk for long distances or making vigorous movements. Therefore, yoga helps people to reduce body pains that occur as a result of old age, fatigue or sickness.

Health experts including Mane (2015), believe that a relaxed body is more productive and focused on issues that are important in helping an individual to achieve personal objectives. The human mind is connected to the body and this connection creates a chain of communication networks that control the functionality of the human body (Mane, 2015). Health experts argue that adult people should sleep for at least eight hours each day. It is not easy to sleep for this many hours knowing that today’s life has become complicated and requires people to stay awake working or studying during most of their free time. A relaxed mind is more productive than an exhausted one and that is why people get job leaves and vacations to relieve the stress associated with spending too much time working or studying (Ross, & Thomas, 2010). Yoga is the best way to relax the body muscles and mind and enable individuals to refresh their minds and forget about the issues troubling them. Yoga experts believe that this exercise enables people to relax their bodies and minds and become more productive at work.

The central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) control almost 90% of the activities within the human body. The system should be kept healthy at all times to ensure the body functions properly. Yoga involves the stimulation of the nerves and the brain. The process of stimulating the nerves causes the human body to adjust and respond appropriately to the various reflexes (Ross, & Thomas, 2010). The health and fitness of the central nervous system control the ability of the human body to perform various tasks. A healthy and functional nervous system guarantees an individual full functionality of the body. Therefore, people should practice yoga so that they can relax and improve the performance of the central nervous system.

Yoga is slowly becoming a common way for people to exercise, reduce weight and improve the performance of their body parts and organs. The practice involves stretching, folding and twisting of the various body parts to ensure they are stimulated. Yoga enables individuals to minimize cases of back and abdominal pains and also avoid injuries in case of minor accidents. Continuous stimulation of the body muscles and joints improves the performance and health of the central nervous system. In addition, a healthy nervous system enables people to relax and perform their work properly. Therefore, yoga is helpful to the body and soul; people should not shy away from attending yoga sessions.
